Medina Urban Hotel
Located in the heart of Medina, the project is conceived as a contemporary urban hotel that combines efficient planning with a refined hospitality experience. Designed for both business and leisure travellers, the hotel creates a calm architectural identity within a vibrant urban setting while remaining closely connected to the cultural character of the city.
Inspired by the principles of traditional Islamic and Saudi Arabian architecture, the design reinterprets familiar elements such as courtyards, arcades, and filtered façades through a contemporary architectural language. Rather than replicating historical forms, the project translates their spatial qualities into a timeless hospitality environment that feels authentic, welcoming, and distinctly modern.

Spatial Logic & Flow
The hotel is organized around a clear and efficient layout that maximizes guest comfort while maintaining intuitive circulation throughout the building. Public amenities are concentrated at ground level around the lobby, restaurant, and courtyard, while guest rooms are arranged to provide privacy, natural light, and a calm living environment. This carefully planned organization supports a seamless hospitality experience from arrival to departure.
Courtyard & Daylight
A central courtyard forms the heart of the hotel, bringing daylight deep into the building while creating a calm social space for guests. Large internal openings establish visual connections across different levels, transforming the atrium into both a source of natural light and a memorable architectural experience that reinforces orientation throughout the hotel.
Architectural Interpretation
The architectural language draws inspiration from Medina's rich architectural heritage while expressing it through contemporary forms and proportions. Layered façades, carefully proportioned openings, and filtered light reinterpret traditional architectural principles, creating a distinctive identity that feels authentic, timeless, and appropriate for a modern urban hotel.
Materials & Atmosphere
Materials were selected to reflect the warmth and character of the region while creating a refined hospitality environment. Natural stone, textured plaster, timber, and soft lighting establish a calm and welcoming atmosphere where material richness is expressed through texture, craftsmanship, and carefully balanced detailing rather than ornament.
